I was very pleased to attend the recent G20 Finance Deputies meetings in Saudi Arabia, now the G20 President, and take part in the discussions on utilising the benefits of technology in infrastructure. It is a topic the GI Hub has already been working on this year and, in continuation of the Quality Infrastructure Investment (QII) agenda delivered under the Japanese Presidency, which was in turn part of the Roadmap to Infrastructure as an Asset Class endorsed by the G20 during the Argentinian Presidency.
Infrastructure is a sector that has been slow to widely adopt new technologies and I believe there is a huge opportunity to increase efficiency and productivity alongside quality, safety and inclusivity.
The GI Hub will use its work to support the G20, and we are also serving the infrastructure community more broadly with our new InfraChallenge initiative that seeks digitally-driven solutions to the big infrastructure challenges.
With 2019 coming to a close, I want to thank the whole GI Hub team for an outstanding year, and you, our partners, colleagues and stakeholders, for your support and engagement. We look forward to continuing to broaden and deepen our collaborations and partnerships in 2020.
